Zenith Bank has received approval from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) to extend the deadline for filing its audited financial statements for the half year ended June 30, 2026. The six-week extension gives the bank additional time to obtain the required regulatory approval before releasing the results to investors.

Zenith Bank Plc has received approval from the Nigerian Exchange Limited to extend the deadline for submitting its audited financial statements for the half year ended June 30, 2026.

The bank disclosed the development in a notice to the investing public dated Aug. 18, 2026, according to a filing published through the NGX. The extension gives Zenith Bank an additional six weeks beyond the original regulatory filing deadline of Aug. 29.

The bank said its Board of Directors had approved the half-year audited financial statements, but the accounts still require approval from its primary regulator before they can be released to the market.

As a result, the extended deadline falls on or around Oct. 10, 2026, based on six weeks after Aug. 29. The bank said it remains optimistic that the audited financial statements will be submitted to NGX and made available to investors before the extended deadline.

The development also comes as other Nigerian financial institutions face extended timelines for their half-year audited filings. Access Holdings Plc, for example, obtained an extension from the NGX for its H1 2026 audited results, with its revised deadline set for September 30, 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

The delay means investors will have to wait longer for Zenith Bank's audited half-year figures, which will provide a fuller picture of the lender's financial performance during the first six months of the year.

Zenith Bank has previously experienced similar delays in submitting audited financial statements when additional regulatory approval was required. In August 2025, for example, the bank also obtained a six-week extension for its half-year audited results after its accounts had been approved by the board but remained subject to regulatory approval.

The latest extension relates specifically to the audited H1 2026 financial statements and does not indicate that the bank has withdrawn or postponed the release indefinitely. Zenith said it expects to complete the process within the extended period.
