United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc have obtained approval from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) to extend the deadline for publishing their audited financial statements for the half-year ended June 30, 2026. Both banks now have until September 30, 2026, subject to the required regulatory approvals.

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc have secured approval from the Nigerian Exchange Limited to extend the deadline for publishing their audited financial statements for the half-year ended June 30, 2026.

Both lenders are now expected to publish their audited half-year results by September 30, 2026, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approval.

UBA said its Board of Directors approved the bank's H1 2026 financial statements at a meeting held on August 13, 2026. However, the results require approval from the bank's primary regulator before they can be released to the investing public. The bank subsequently obtained approval from the NGX for an extension to September 30.

UBA also reminded insiders that its previously declared closed period for transactions in the bank's securities remains in effect until 24 hours after publication of the financial statements.

Fidelity Bank separately disclosed that its H1 2026 audited financial statements are still being finalised. The bank said the accounts will be submitted to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for approval once the audit is completed, after which they will be published in accordance with NGX rules and other applicable regulations.

The bank said NGX approved an extension to September 30, 2026, subject to receipt of the CBN's regulatory approval for the audited accounts. Fidelity Bank's trading window for insiders and connected persons will remain closed until 24 hours after the publication of the H1 2026 audited financial statements.

The extensions mean investors will have to wait until the audit and regulatory approval processes are completed before receiving the banks' audited first-half results.

The development follows a series of extensions granted to major Nigerian financial institutions for their H1 2026 audited accounts. Fidelity Bank is among lenders that have sought additional time to complete their audited interim reporting and obtain the necessary regulatory clearances.

The September 30 deadline now provides both UBA and Fidelity Bank additional time to complete the required processes before releasing their audited financial statements to shareholders and the wider investing public.
