Apple has unveiled a new Mac mini with its latest M6 and M5 Pro chips, adding greater processing capabilities for artificial intelligence and other demanding workloads.
Apple said the new Mac mini with M6 delivers up to four times faster AI performance than the previous Mac mini with M4. The company also said the new model offers up to 40% faster CPU performance, while its graphics performance can be up to twice as fast.
The M6 equipped Mac mini features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, with Neural Accelerators incorporated into each GPU core. Apple said the system also includes a new dual 16-core Neural Engine designed to accelerate AI-related workloads.
The new Mac mini starts at $899, compared with $799 for the previous-generation model. The computer comes with 16GB of unified memory as standard and can be configured with up to 32GB, according to Apple.
Apple is positioning the new Mac mini as a platform for a range of uses, including everyday computing, creative work and AI workflows. The company also highlighted its potential use as an always-on desktop device for what it describes as agentic computing.
The new models include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and upgraded 2.5Gb Ethernet, with a 10Gb Ethernet option available. Apple said the new Mac mini is available for pre-order, with availability beginning September 22, 2026.
